Wolverine Claws… In Black!!
Well today I ran into something pretty cool. A set of X-Men Wolvie Claws… in black!!
If you have been following my blog, you may remember this post a while back about an similar set of Wolverine Claws. I also featured this previous set in my Ultimate Wolverine Claw Guide. Well, this set is pretty much the same as the other one, except that someone had the excellent idea of powder coating the blades and the handle black, and wrapping the handle in black leather.
The final effect is, for lack of a better word, schweet. Simply beautiful. At least in my opinion. This particular blade design still posses the same structural/mechanical shortcomings that I talked about in the other post, however at least these look much, much more sinister. Which, in my book, is better. Which earns the dark pair of wolverine claws extra wickedness points over the relatively wussy shiny pair…

ahhh nothing like a nice set of claws that would implant themselves between your knuckles if you ever used them
LOL you can say that again… It’s funny, the movie prop claws had the same issues. Of course it was a MOVIE PROP, so the design wasn’t ever intended for actual use. But I guess so long as it looks similar people will be happy…
Maybe I just expect too much…
There is something to be said for having lower expectations, if something falls short of where it should you aren’t too terribly surprised or disappointed.
Lower my expectations? NEVAR!!
why hasn’t anybody used a set of replica gauntlets and then tac-welded the pantera or other blades onto them? seems that’d be pretty sturdy…
if it was a proper weld it would but a tack weld would probablly just sheer of on impact if ya Tig welded the claws to bars wchi then went to a steel bracer and tigged a handle from the blades to a confortable fist positon itd be pretty damn solid but alas no wrist movement and youd basically be copying a classic weapon anyway, the tekko-kagi
Agreed, you don’t want to tack weld anything that you want to be strong. You would need a full solid weld, and if the gauntlet was properly designed, you probably wouldn’t even need to weld the blades to a plate first. That would be pretty cool actually, though I think you would need to have a gauntlet that was braced on the wrist/forearm to prevent the claws from bending the hand back too far.
