@heavensmisfit
I disagree that the Latest Rambo knife has no purpose other than combat. I think it would actually be ill suited for combat purposes, for the same reasons it is ill suited for survival purposes, at least in a single tool role.

As part of a multi-knife survival set, however, I think it would be an excellent performer for heavier camp tasks, provided that it was carried with a smaller knife for fine work.

I guess I will continue to beat the proverbial dead horse here as well, even though I am new. The new Rambo blade (I refer to it as the Crusher) really has no other purpose other than combat. I mean, frankly it is not the tool I would pick up first when asked to go on an expidition into the Yukon. However, when push comes to shove, if in a full blown combat situation, I wouldn't leave home without it. Kinda like my Master card. HMMM.....

i agree as compared to a small knife it is clumsy yes but it still does the job and id rather carry one tool to use for many tasks than a thousand different knifes axes and machetes

Regarding the axe thing, you have to look at it in relative terms. Almost every knife I post on this site can probably cut you pretty badly, even the ones that are absolute garbage. But that doesn't mean they are good weapons. Likewise, while you can use an axe for certain fine tasks, it is usually easier to use a small knife...
So in comparison to a small knife, an axe is indeed clumsy. Design wise, an axes design is really not intended for fine work.

You can certainly use a 10# sledge to drive a thumb tack into a piece of wood, but a small claw hammer would be much easier... :D

LOL Pfft, no thanks to you!! :P At least Sinz and LoS helped me get my testosterone levels to pretty close to normal; blood on snow white swords and beheading posts are good like that :)

I just have to do a few more macho weapon posts to get it back to the uber Balrog level I had it at before... Just you wait and see... HAH! :)

Phyreblade, you're never gonna recover your testosterone after Rukia's pretty little white katana of smiley doom. At least, not without a hell of a lot of hard work.

Still, that's one pretty mean blade there. Between a survival knife or one of these, I know which I'd prefer to have coming at me - and the leaf-spring cleaver is not it.

That is a nice blade, I do tend to be a fan of machites. I know I know, me liking a sharp pointy object that could potentially be used for head displacement *shocking*
